(Book Review): The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee
'It was not quite the context in which I had imagined Alexander Platt would ask me for my help. In my fantasies, it was from the other side of an operating table, in a time of crisis, with everyone panicking over a tangled intestine no one could unravel until I stepped up.'
The adventure continues for Felicity Montague. She is in Scotland, desperate to become a doctor and is instead stuck inside a bakery with an unwanted suitor. She fled (?) to England where she briefly reunited with Monty and Percy before leaving again to Germany to attend her ex-bestfriend's wedding (whom she had not talk to for years after they had a falling out) to her idol, the famous Dr. Alexander Platt.
Like 'The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue', this novel is set in historical Europe with a touch of fantasy (dragons etc :D).
I cannot even begin to describe how easy it is to love Felicity. She is hard-headed and perseverant, but not without a conscience. Whilst Monty was also lovable in the first book, his monologues and actions could be so frustrating sometimes. In fact, he is much better as a person in the second book.
Johanna and Sim are also fun to read, but they are nowhere as fun and exciting as a trio compared to the golden trio from the first book.
It was a fun read and Felicity did not disappoint!
Verdict: 4.6/5
